What's Pure Happiness???

It's Pure Happiness is a blog of things I like, love or find inspiring.
It might be pictures, quotes, songs, books, products or foods.
Basically, it's things that make up a life of Pure Happiness.

Strength and Courage

The Difference Between Strength and Courage

It takes strength to be firm,
It takes courage to be gentle.

It takes strength to stand guard,
It takes courage to let down your guard.

It takes strength to conquer,
It takes courage to surrender.

It takes strength to be certain,
It takes courage to have doubt.

It takes strength to fit in,
It takes courage to stand out.

It takes strength to feel a friend's pain,
It takes courage to feel your own pain.

It takes strength to hide your pains,
It takes courage to show them.

It takes strength to endure abuse,
It takes courage to stop it.

It takes strength to stand alone,
It takes courage to lean on another.

It takes strength to love,
It takes courage to be loved.

It takes strength to survive,
It takes courage to live.

(I dont know where this originated, but I love it)

I love this image, which you can find at I love Doodle and you can get it on a t-shirt from Threadless.

Red Rock Deli Chips

I love the new(ish) Red Rock Deli chip flavours.
The Vintage Cheddar and Onion is my favourite - think gourmet cheese and onion chips. The cheese is a nice strong flavour and is well balanced with the onion.
In the past I have really enjoyed the Morrocan Chicken flavour too - somehow spicy, but with a touch of lime all in one chip.

Although they can be a bit expensive compared to other crisps, they are a totally different experience. Buy when on sale and for a change from your regular chips- especially if you want something a little more fancy.

Oh damn, now I have cravings for chips (again).

Crumpled and Dirty

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20.00 bill. In the room of 200, he asked,

"Who would like this $20 bill?"

Hands started going up.

He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this.

He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill.

He then asked, "Who still wants it?"

Still the hands were up in the air.

Well, he replied, "What if I do this?"

And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe.

He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty.

"Now, who still wants it?"

Still the hands went into the air.

" Well, my friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20"

Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value.

Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who love you.

(I do not know where this story originally came from, but I think it is a nice little reminder for us all to not let circumstances get us down)

You Dont Have To Believe Me

I really love the song You Dont Have to Believe Me by Eric Hutchinson.

I thought his album Sounds Like This was awesome, and i thought most of the songs were great, but I like the sentiment in this one (and the tune is great too).
I find this particular song really catchy and constantly get it stuck in my head - I also cant help bursting into song when it comes on (despite not doing it any justice).

I think these lines are great

"You don't have to believe me when I tell you that i'm impressed
but you sure better believe me when I say you deserve the best"

"You don't have to believe me when i tell you i like your dress

but you sure better believe me when i say you deserve respect"

"You don't have to believe me when you're shaking what you got
but you sure better believe me when i tell you your mind's what's hot"

These are some of my fave dresses. (and check out the AWESOME pair of heels)

To worry or not to worry

When I look back on all these worries, I remember the story of the old man who said on his deathbed that he had had a lot of trouble in his life, most of which had never happened.

I think this is a sentiment we all need to remember - that is - we waste so much time worrying about things that arent really even problems, when we could be spending that time enjoying life.

Maybelline NY Shine Sensational Tempting Toffee Lipgloss

I've recently tried the Maybelline NY Shine Sensational lipgloss in Tempting Toffee.
What a gorgeous lipgloss. Its silky, smooth, shiny and sweet.
It is slightly brown tinged, although not particularly noticeable, and actually tastes of toffee (and smells delicious too). It is super shiny, but is really lovely to wear.

It also comes in other flavours such as cherry bloom, crushed candy (smells like candy canes), peach sorbet and a number of other fruity flavours. They all seem delicious ... now I just need to save up some money so I can get one of each.

I love turtles and this one just looks so peaceful.

The Best Things

The 'best things in life aren't things' post is about appreciating non 'things' in life.

Today its all about laughter and smiles

- the way someones eyes light up when they smile
- the sound of a little child giggling/squealing with delight
- those moments when you try not to laugh ... but then it finally bursts through
- when the tears fall or the snorts escape, because you are laughing so hard
- getting the giggles for no apparent reason and passing that laughter on, until it has overcome everyone
