Self Reflection with Thought Questions

Lately I have been subscribing/reading a blog called Thought Questions, which posts really interesting, thought provoking questions.
As I love self reflection and gaining insight, I love getting the email and thinking about how I would answer.

So, I intend to post some of my faves here, along with my answer. Please check out the blog too, as it is full of awesome questions.

So here is todays

Question:

Answer: I would do a version of 'A few random things I have learnt' and it would include things like
- Never deprive someone of hope, it might be all they have
- Trust your instincts
- Live every day as though your purpose is to improve the life of someone else
- Be yourself, but make it the best version of you as you can
- Sometimes, listening is all it takes

Top 3 !!!

My Top Three ...................... Caramel Chocolate.

Its no secret that I love chocolate, and I love caramel. Put them together and give me chocolate filled with caramel and I am in heaven.

Here are my top three.

1) Nestle Rolo Block
The block is better than the tube of individual pieces.
I think this is the best chocolate to caramel ratio and is my fave of all. I find the caramel particularly creamy and gooey and the thicker chocolate base is great.

2) Cadbury Caramello Koalas.
Again, so much gooey caramel inside delicious chocolate. I'm particularly fond of biting off one corner and sucking the caramel out (works best with the 40g ones).

For some reason, despite the fact that this should be the exact same as the koalas, I dont find it as good. I think its because the chocolate/caramel ratio isnt the same (or maybe my inner child wants animal shaped food). Still nice though.

Wishlist !!!

Here are a few of my latest loves from Modcloth.

Chord-ially Yours in Magenta             Sea shanty singing dress       A Real Romantic Dress        In The Key Of Chic in Watercolours      Owl About That Dress        Flutter You Waiting For     Saturday Safari Dress      Too Much Fun in Plum Petunias

If I had to pick my top 3 it would be the
Flutter You Waiting For (mustard with jewel tone birds and flowers - third row)
Too Much Fun in Plum Petunias ( purple with little flowers - bottom row)
and
Saturday Safari (dark blue with cartoon giraffes - bottom row).

Modcloth always have the most gorgeous stuff. If only I had endless money and the postage wasn't quite so dear - makes it hard to return if you get the sizing wrong.

Mid-year stocktake !!!

A whole bunch of bloggers are participating in a mid year stock take of their lives. I found this one through Jo at iCurvy who is one of my fave Aussie bloggers.
The middle of the year seems to be a good time to do a review of my life and see where things are at - to just step back and take stock.

So here it is, my 2014 mid year stocktake. It will be interesting to look back on this and see how it changes over the next 6 months/year/few years.

Making: Endless online wishlists... Modcloth, PinUp Girl, ASOS.

Cooking: Curries, homemade pizza.

Drinking: Water mostly, the occasional hot choc.

Reading: Lots of free books on my tablet. I mostly use Kindle. Some of the free books are a bit crap, but I’ve also managed to read some really good stuff.

Wanting: Red coat from City Chic, dresses from Modcloth.

Looking: At the snow on the mountains around Canberra.

Playing: Pharaoh/Cleopatra PC game. So old school, but I LOVE it.

Deciding: On how/where to spend our holiday later this year. Beach here I come.
Wishing: For a baby. I have been for so many years now.

Enjoying: Pizza. Man I love pizza. I swear I could eat it every single day and not get sick of it.

Waiting: For this TTC journey to finally work.

Liking: Charcoal pore strips - I love regular pore strips, but the charcoal ones are so much better at ripping the crap out of your face - and all the better for seeing it too.

Wondering: If I am ever going to get to have a baby. And feeling pretty scared that maybe it wont ever happen for us.
Loving: My husband. We're both struggling through this trying to conceive journey, but we're in it together and we're at a good place as a couple at the moment.

Pondering: How my life is nothing like what I thought it would be at this age. I'm about to turn 30. I thought I'd have a house and be almost done with having kids at this age. I don't have either of those things. It makes me really sad.

Considering: whether I can really live this far away from the beach. I miss seeing the ocean on a regular basis.
Watching: Offspring (hello Lawrence, when’d you get so damn fine) and Winners and Losers (please tell me Jonathon isnt really gone ?!?! sob)
Hoping: for a baby. (Are you seeing a theme here?) I want this so badly and trying and failing is killing me.

Marvelling: at my head/hearts ability to keep hoping, even after all this time.
Needing: to focus on something other than babies and trying to concieve.
Smelling: A chocolate perfume from Sephora.
Wearing: A big coat over everything cos this weather is so cold. Boots. Jeans.
Following: the Aussie Curves weekly challenges – I love seeing what all the ladies put together.
Noticing: that I am getting fitter.
Knowing: That somehow, no matter what happens, we’ll figure this out together and it will be ok one day.

Thinking:
positively – or at least, trying to.
Feeling: Content. Happy. Sad. Hopeful. Worried.
Admiring: All the fantastic looking coats/jackets/cold weather gear that are actually flattering – why do I always look like a frumpy eskimo?
Sorting: All the boring tax/super etc related crap

Buying: Hand cream for my poor winter cracked hands.

Getting: Excited for my birthday later this month.

Bookmarking: Recipes - mostly delicious looking cakes and slices.

Disliking: Wind that whips straight off the snow - it stings and everything just freezes.
Opening: personal emails constantly throughout the day – helps me get through my work day with a smile on my face.
Giggling: At How I Met Your Mother re-runs.
Snacking: Trying to eat well at the moment so not snacking much, but if I was it would be Rolo chocolate or Twix. Or chips. Or Turkish bread and dip. (Ok yeah, I’m a little hungry)
Coveting: An amazing, flattering va-voom wardrobe that's easy to just throw on without thinking too much.
Helping: As many clients as I can.
Hearing: Have been revisiting John Butler Trio ‘Grand National’ lately – have had it on repeat.

52 Lists: Ways you are Energised

'52 Lists' is a blog activity started by Moorea-seal, based on a book called 'List Yourself'. (Edit: Moorea has just started re-visiting her old lists too)

Self reflection always appeals to me, so I thought I would give it a go. I'm just going through them at my own pace now.

Week 18: List the Ways You are Energised
  • A shower
  • Fresh air and sunshine
  • A walk on the beach
  • Laughing
  • Feeling good within myself
  • Cleaning my teeth
  • An ‘everything is going right’ kind of day
  • Cold air blowing on my face while I am cozy under a blanket
  • Christmas time ( seriously, who doesnt get all hyper at Christmas?)
  • Having a super clean/tidy house
  • Listening to some fave songs
  • Spending time with my sisters + our partners

It will be really interesting to look back on these in a week, a month, a year or more and see how it has changed. Part of the reason I love doing these things is because they are so reflective of your current 'at this very moment' self, and therefore, even if I did this again tomorrow, I am sure some of the things would be different.

Best Things in Life !!!

The 'best things in life aren't things' post is about appreciating non 'things' in life. Non material things. (And yes, I realise sometimes some of what I write could be classified as a 'thing' but its the idea that the best things aren't the material possessions).

1) Seeing snow dusted mountains off in the distance. Winter is cold and miserable, but snow covered mountains make for breathtaking scenery.

2) Hot chocolate made in a saucepan with milk and real melted chocolate.

3) A hot shower after you've come in from being in the rain.

4) The heady, giggly, silly feeling you have at the start of a relationship when its all new. (Or reminiscing about the feeling)

5) The feel of your hands are giving them a good scrub with sugar scrub - so soft and fresh and new feeling.

Weed or Wish ???

I really love this sentiment. I'm a wish kind of girl.
